Scientists have identified some chronic diseases have centenarians
Scientists have conducted a large-scale study to find the relationship between the disease and advanced age.
To live up to a hundred years. It sounds like a challenge. In fact, to reach such a ripe old age perhaps even having "assets" serious chronic diseases.
This according to researchers who set out to find out which chronic diseases are typical of long-lived, and the age at which they purchased them.
Scientists are primarily interested in the question: "Long life - the result of good genetics or the unique ability of the body to cope with the disease??
In the study, researchers interviewed 424 people between the ages of one hundred years of age and older, the main thing that needed to know - suffer if they any of the below listed diseases (hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, skin cancer, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, Parkinson's disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), and if so, when they first encounter with them.
In addition, the scientists investigated asked questions about their lifestyle, diet, exercise, smoking and other habits. And on the basis of examination of all the respondents were divided into three categories.
The first group - the survivors. This category includes 24% of men and 43% women. These ranked all who were diagnosed at least one of the aforementioned diseases before the age of 80 years.
The second group - escaped. These included those respondents who reached the age of 100 years without any serious illnesses. There turned out to be 32% among men and 15% among women.
The third group - the detainees. This category includes all who have been diagnosed with at least one of the diseases on the list, but the age of 80 years. Among men, there were 44% and 42% among women.
So, almost all the respondents fell into the category of "escaped" - 87% of men and 83% of female centenarians never hurt any one of these three diseases.
Of course, more research is required, and conclusions is done early. But we can at least conclude that live to be a hundred people with very different histories. But the man later was diagnosed, the better is the effect on the duration of its life.
For example, this study shows that the paths to longevity lot. People who have reached a hundred years does not necessarily have a good inheritance.
Heredity, as protection against age-related diseases, of course typical for a certain percentage of the lucky ones. The rest managed to live to a hundred years, in spite of his illness.
Research has shown that the later a person diagnosed with one or another serious disease, the better. Many factors related to lifestyle, able to delay the onset of disease at a later age, or to help prevent the disease altogether. Among such factors, in the first place, is called regular exercise, eating healthy, strong and long sleep and relaxation. Diseases can be prevented or overcome with the help available to you medical devices.
Nevertheless, this study tells us nothing about the extent to which the care of their own health affects the duration of our lives. It does not consider it the quality of life of those surveyed centenarians. What can we do to live as long as possible? The best solution - focus on the above mentioned factors associated with a healthy lifestyle. For a start it will be enough.
