Disabled people are less stressed
Scientists at the Carnegie Mellon University in the US claim that the marriage took people have lower levels of the hormone cortisol in the body. Quite often it is called "hormone of anger" or "stress." Cortisol regulates many changes in the body, including the indicators of the blood sugar level of the immune response and inflammation.
Previous studies have suggested that married people are composed are healthier than those who are single, widowed or divorced. The current study is the first biological evidence presented of how the marriage of a positive effect on health.
Scientists have saliva samples from more than 500 adults aged between 21 and 55 years who were taken within three days. Numerous samples of saliva daily volunteers passed several times in order to based on them to measure levels of cortisol.
The researchers found that married people show consisting smaller rate of this hormone than those who have never been married or gone through a divorce.
The difference in the level of cortisol between family and single people exceeded 1% every day. Although it does not seem significant figure, according to the researchers, over time, this indicator gets increasingly important for health.
The study also identified the daily schedule cortisol levels in volunteers. Usually index of this hormone reaches a peak at the time of waking up in the morning and decreases throughout the day. We married hormone index decreased significantly faster, which is associated with a reduced risk of heart disease and increase life expectancy.
