What a shock and how to cope with it

The phrase "I'm shocked" many pronounced in critical situations, without thinking about its nature. At the same time, few people know that not every "full horror" - a shock, and in fact there is a huge difference between this state and the stress or trauma, which may also occur in the difficult moments of life. Why is it so important to know about it and what to do with those who are in shock, says a specialist in psychosomatic medicine, Procedure psychologist Lilia Siskin.

Shock - a blow that assumes not only the mind but also the body. It is known that in critical situations the person disabled frontal lobes (responsible for logic, intellect, morality) and works only ancient brain, which is located in the brain stem. It was there that lives the basic instinct, which in case of danger, gives one of three teams: hit, run or stand still. So: when a shock comes into force it is an order "stand still". Therefore, in a state of shock as a person could be "frozen": it may temporarily take away the speech, amnesia occur, be certain torpor, in which a person does not understand what happened, and often can not describe my feelings. Also, the feeling may be that his head as if separated from the body, because at that time people mentally "flies" away from the shock of the situation and of the world, which is struck; skin and extremities become cold. Can dramatically decrease the amount of sugar in the blood, start shivering, breathing becomes intermittent or stops.

Loyal assistant - BODY. Ignore can not be a shock. All that happened was reflected in the body, it is not going anywhere. Even if the mind include protection in the form of amnesia, it will work only for a time and in a given situation will be back - in the form of the same body reactions, nightmares and fears. This trigger serious memories can be anything. So, if a person got into a car accident and did not cope with the shock and just decided to take care of yourself refusal to ride in public transport, in one "neprekrasny" the day of his fear may come back and "cover the head" because of some bullshit - type smell of perfume similar to those that were among the participants of disaster. At the same time, if a person was able to survive the shock, and not run away from it, such fears will not torture him.

Ways to live shock. Most of them are known for a long time.

1. First you need to establish regular breathing. Breathe and pronounce: "I breathe in, I breathe out." It is also necessary "to ground" - for this purpose it is best to sit on a chair, to feel the support legs (they thus do not need to cross). If this is not possible, you can lean against a wall or another person (who is not shocked). The grounding should be as much as it wants the body. Generally, to cope with the shock requires no more than 10 minutes. There are other ways, but it only works if it asks the body. So, the man got into a terrible car accident left the car and instinctively lay on the ground. After lying for a while, got up, took a picture of what was left from the car, and put pictures in the social network with the words: "I'm alive, that's all right." And, of course, I got a million words of support and sympathy. These simple steps have helped him to cope with the shock, and subsequently no nightmares he was not tortured. A behind the wheel of his own car, he sat down without fear in a few days. Also, being in shock, you can repeat to yourself: "I'm alive, I'm more of any of its states". These phrases help to survive the incident.

2. In order to assist a person in shock, you just have to be around him. But it did not inspire a series of "All will be well" (this contributes to the detachment from reality), not to ask about what happened (this will lead to the re-shock) and do not drag. You can hug, his hands between his shoulder blades. When a person wakes up a bit, you can give him tea with sugar in order to raise the level of glucose and stop shivering.

By itself, the shock trauma has passed, and at any moment anything can happen again, even out of the critical situation. That is, outwardly it looks easy, but a man suddenly begins to beat, nightmares and fears arise from scratch.

SIGNS OF SLEEPING shock. In neperezhitogo shock state has its own characteristics: a seemingly unexplainable panic attacks, panic attacks, feelings of helplessness, fear of open spaces, the experience of threat to life, the desire to retire from the people and special dreams. Scientists came to the conclusion that dreams in which there is winter, ice, snow and frost - shock trauma symptoms, holding up the pores.

The explanation for this - in a state of icing that a person experiences in shock, and the body for a long time will remember. Since healed, but not lived shock trauma reduce the quality of life, many people are still hesitant to work with them. But do it better with a specialist: independent work can hurt, because even the slightest recollection person may again be in an unstable state and retravmirovatsya.
